Australia has always encouraged skilled immigrants and business investments.

If you are a business investor, would it be better to go to the US than Australia? This is because there are 500 million people living there and 500 million potential customers. In contrast, Australia has only about 15 million people, This is in spite of the fact they are also a big country.

The US economy is in shambles, and is only going downhill right now. Because of the high gas and food prices, people are not buying many luxury items--only things that are necessary.

If your business provides a service or product that might be considered necessary, you could have a much better market in the US. Otherwise, it might be wise to do business in your own country until our economy improves.

You have to take into consideration a number of elements first before u make any decisions. The US has a population of just over 300 million & Australia has a population of just over 25 million. You really need to do ur home work & make sure u have accurate data.

l am currently working on a business venture now in conjunction with a financial institution (legal reason can not say who) in NZ.

Now, we had the opportunity to go to Australia first which is a bigger market. But, bigger is not always better. Bigger requires more costs & different legal requirements to name a few. So by providing to a smaller market first it will give us control & an opportunity to test & perfect the product before we go to a larger market. We intend on going global so we have to take small steps to achieve this. The financial global market has left a gaping hole for us to take full advantage of the situation & we intend to do that because we become part of the solution.

Here is another example - India has 1.3 billion people, but 900 million live on less than a $1 a day. This leaves u with 400 million, but 180 million live on $10 - $12 a day. So the remainder 220 million is really ur market size & then u come across other issues.

Australia has so many good business opportunities it is not even funny. If u have money & u just want to invest ur money. You have to decide if u r prepared to move to the US if that is where u choose to invest because u can not live in Australia if ur going to invest in the US. All the best
